As for the poems in the shop windows, alas, I completely missed them this year. At least they still have them in the ladies' loo at Snape!Fiona Moorehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10052038869211775919noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1648230750208763565.post-53420979518495200032012-11-10T21:22:51.350+00:002012-11-10T21:22:51.350+00:00Fiona, I agree with everything you say about Snape...Fiona, I agree with everything you say about Snape, and also everything about the pressures that the Poetry Trust faced in having to make this choice. It had a cleaned-up campus feel to it, and kept the poetry (and poets) away from the real world of buying a pint of milk between events, picking up the Guardian, scrunching over the shingle for a bit of breathing space, dragging someone back to the base-flat for coffee ... For the first time I realised that I was scooting past the poems in the shop windows in Aldeburgh, no time to read them, because the time in Aldeburgh was to precious to waste on ... hang on, that can't be right. But that was what happened. The poems felt rather forlorn, cut off form their poets - like losing a broadband connection.<br />I, too, used the vital bus, and the whole weekend would have been impossible without it. However, having bought only a small number of tickets in advance I found myself buying more form the box office: the energy of the Festival still worked its magic.D A Princenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1648230750208763565.post-12657728572185374472012-11-07T18:12:58.192+00:002012-11-07T18:12:58.192+00:00Many thanks, Anthony.
